LHL 5/17 :Poetic Musings ---My eyes are raining ...

My eyes are raining  Rain rain rain just go the f@ck away ..., Cause You're messing up my f@cking day... I can't eat, can't sleep, can't think man oh man, do I hate feeling this way... But wait, look over there way over there....in the distant distant skies, Are my eyes deceiving me or is she a mirage? An angelic beauty from heaven ...sent down to me, to fill the void you left.. To dry up these tearful wells of sorrow and despair. Her beauty unrivaled by any in the land near or far... Her golden hair like the sun's first shine bringing warmth to the earth and to my heart Her eyes are akin to the ocean's deep hue except they are brown not blue.. Her seductively soft rose petal like lips taste like a devine decadent treat... Her pleasure dries away the rain in my eyes forever!

Native American Mascot Controversy Takes Center Stage at the National Museum of the American Indian

The race conversation in America is finally getting some much deserved attention. Next month, the nations' captiol will attempt to advance the conversation.    The Smithsonian's National Museum of the American Indian presents "Racist Stereotypes and Cultural Appropriation in American Sports," a symposium and community conversation Thursday, Feb. 7, from 10:15 a.m. to 5:45 p.m. in the museum's Rasmuson Theater in Washington, D.C. "What better place to address this issue than the Smithsonian's National Museum of the American Indian on the National Mall," says museum director Kevin Gover (Pawnee). "The Smithsonian Institution is the ideal forum to bring people together to ask tough questions."

As a man of color, I am pleased that the conversation is beginning but I'm not so sure that targeting iconic mascots of storied professional and collegiate franchises are the best place to start.

Just my two cents.

The "Know-it-All" Named Worst Super Bowl Party Guest, Finds New CouponCabin.com Survey

CouponCabin.com just released the results of their online survey naming the "Know-it-All" the Worst Superbowl Party Guest and you'll get no argument from me on that one.  You know that guy that "knows all there is to know about football, food and the commerials."  For years this obnoxious party goer has tormented friends, family and total strangers with their seemingly never ending buffonary.  By the end of the night everybody knows him and everybody hates him.  But he's probably the guy who's big screen we're all watching come game day so we tolerate his annoying commentary.

Stevie Wonder Joins Gary Clark Jr. To Headline Bud Light Hotel Saturday Concert Lineup

The Big Easy continues an epic climb back.  The year's biggest game Superbowl 47 will have the eyes of the world glued to the once storm ravaged New Orleans area and will have those with $$$$ to spare enjoying the best in entertainment both on and off the field.  Superstar music sensation Stevie Wonder will now join rising star Gary Clark Jr to headline the Saturday night pre-game concert at the transformed New Orleans hotel AKA Bud Light Hotel.  Wonder's  Saturday night performance will highlight what promises to be a week of star-studded performances at the 200-room venue.  "Music, sports and beer naturally go together, and this year's Bud Light Hotel lineup, more than any other, blend the three seamlessly into one amazing event," said Mike Sundet, vice president, Bud Light. "Our amazing partners and a first-of-its-kind performance with Stevie Wonder will make this a 'can't miss' destination for Super Bowl week partygoers."

Like many I won't be able to participate in any of the festivities this year but if you're gonna be in the area that week I'm including some details below.

The events lineup for the week includes:

Thursday, Jan. 31 – EA SPORTS™ Madden Bowl XIX Party featuring Lil Wayne (doors open at 7 p.m.)

Friday, Feb. 1 –Rolling Stone LIVE featuring Pitbull and Flo Rida (doors open at 9:15 p.m.)

Saturday, Feb. 2 – Stevie Wonder concert featuring Gary Clark Jr. (doors open at 8 p.m.)

Sunday, Feb. 3 – Concert featuring the Eli Young Band and Lee Brice (doors open at 1 p.m.)

All events are invite only. Tickets for the Saturday and Sunday concerts are available throughout the New Orleans metropolitan area. For those not heading to the Big Easy for the Super Bowl, Myspace – the Bud Light Hotel live broadcast partner – will be streaming select performances from the Friday and Saturday night concerts at www.Myspace.com/BudLight.
