Lakers extinguish Heat, 108-105 improve to 30-6

LOS ANGELES - The Los Angeles Lakers outlasted a valiant effort from the Miami Heat to win their 30th game of the season. Playing again without out Lamar Odom for who was sidelined with a bruised right knee for a third straight game the Lakers rode their big man and their bench to the victory. Paced by the rejuvenated play of their young center Andrew Bynum (24pts, 6rebs, 2asts) the Lakers took control of the contest early and held on for the win because they played together as a team. After the game, guard Derek Fisher was geeked about the team's prospects for the rest of the season after their sizzling start. "What's really exciting, is how good we are going to be when everyone gets back." But the Lakers didn't need Lamar tonight.

The featured match-up of Wade against Bryant didn't materialize until the fourth quarter when Kobe appeared to get his game going. He finished with 19 points and 7 assists. Heat guard Dwayne Wade tried desperately to keep his team within striking distance on the road scoring 27 points and grabbing 9 boards.

The former Olympic teammates hadn't shared the court since the Lakers lost heart breaker to the Wade and the Heat late last year in Miami, this time Bryant and the Lakers returned the favor on their home court.

As the final seconds ticked off the clock and the Lakers clinging to a one point lead 106-105 Kobe Bryant and Dwayne Wade clashed skulls that drew blood from Bryant. On the same play and seven seconds remaining in the game, Wade somehow found a wide open Chris Quinn for a game winning three pointer but unfortunately for the Heat, Quinn's attempt fell harmlessly short of the rim and they would not get any closer.
